So disappointing Americans finally woke up to the class war a month too late
Nothing has changed. Nothing. If the election was tomorrow, Trump would still win. Don’t be fooled by all of us sane Americans that exist here on Lemmy.
Right? When things are boring or good, people get complacent. But the fight for freedom is neverending.
Both parties are on the same aode of the class war. One just pays lip service to climate change and minorities while implementing all the same heinous shit.
Only one party nominated and elected a billionaire though…
And the other party candidates have said in consecutive elections that they weren’t going to change anything. People know that the country is fundamentally broken and want someone that is going to actually change things.
The other party was merely backed by billionaires and ran a billion dollar campaign.
Totally different.
Totally different
Glad we can all agree.
Yeah, no. Both parties are not even remotely the same. They both suck, but one is far, far worse.
You had a choice between the fascist and a kind of crap government and you chose the fascist.
You could have had shit democracy like you always have and instead you went for judge dredd anarchy. Some serious mental gymnastics are required to say that those two things are the same.
That crap government is always going to lead to a fascist at some point. Here we are at that point.
No it doesn’t. It just leads to a few years of ineffective nonsense and then eventually somebody else takes over, they don’t automatically have to be fascists though, why would that be the case?
The UK had a crap ineffective government for 16 years but they’ve been replaced now and they’re not fascist.
Simply not true.
It wasn’t about appealing to us, it was about appealing to the common American voter. Democrats failed to do either.
The fuck does that mean? You are seriously trying to excuse neo-nazis in fancy suits.
The United States of America is as much of an enemy of the Human condition as Iraq, you get off on hurting people you get off on making everyone’s lives miserable because it makes you feel better. By definition that must be the majority view
I don’t know if you realize this but most Americans do not live in the lands that american weapons destroy and do not know the first thing about what goes on in those places, other than what their media tells them.
There are no classes in America.
Oh there he is.
You’re seriously telling me that suburban dwelling family of four is the same as an inner city single mother raising two kids?
The whole point about classes is that different people have different outlooks based entirely on their socioeconomic situation you can’t pretend that doesn’t exist just because it’s not nice.
You’re seriously telling me that suburban dwelling family of four is the same as an inner city single mother raising two kids?
Yes. They are both working class. They both have to work to get money to live. They are both far more similar to each other than to a billionaire. The owning class doesn’t work for a living, they own for a living. They own things that let them take money from working class people.
There’s not just two classes, there working class, middle class, and upperclass, which I suppose you could call the owning class.
Yes the middle class also work, so perhaps a better name for the working class would be the laboring class, the names are not important, but the point is that working-class people tend disproportionately to have blue-collar jobs, and middle class people tend to have white collar jobs. They tend to work shorter hours for more money, and so have more disposable income.
That kind of rhetoric is dangerous. If a white collar worker hears it, they might think they have class interests that oppose those of blue collar workers. And that might convince them to vote for conservatives who promise to oppress the working class and give tax cuts to the rich.
It isn’t rhetoric, it is reality.
If you are not prepared to face fact then you are part of the problem in fact you are pretty much the entirety of the problem.
White collar workers don’t have significant class interests in opposition to blue collar workers. We all benefit from that which benefits the poorest of us. For example, when the minimum wage is raised, we all end up making more money than we did before. It’s not reality.
Just because you don’t understand something doesn’t mean it exists.
Touche
Lol
And Blue Cross Blue Shield reversed their decision to limit coverage of anesthesia immediately after the shooting. We got real world examples! One oligarch dead and several others immediately loosen their oppression of everyone else.
Makes you wonder what else is on the table if a few more “claims get denied”
I like that euphemism. They claim not to be psychopathic greedy leeches, the evidence shows otherwise, we deny them.
It’s so cute how all this is en vogue while the country votes for trump.
It’s only surprising if you don’t understand why they voted for Trump
Edit for the people asking: it’s because the democrats didn’t present solutions for our economy. Regular Americans care whether they can put food on the table. An insurance CEO has a lot to do with that. They know healthcare is broken. They know about income inequality and the record corporate profits. Neither party has presented solutions to fix it, but the right wing is always willing to make up bullshit and look for scapegoats about whatever grievance will energize their base.
People are hurting right now, many of them blame Biden. Kamala promised to do more of the same, and if she promised solutions then they were lighter versions of what Trump promised. This not only legitimized Trump’s positions at the national level but made the Democrats look incompetent for going back on their previous stances.
As many of us know; there are real solutions, which she was not willing to vouch for; and there are ways to combat Trump’s rhetoric, which she was only willing to do in the most extreme cases but not at the fundamental level. This very predictably depressed her base. She was wholly unwilling to even pretend to champion their interests.
That’s it. It’s not quippy, but it’s literally that simple. Stop seeing the worst in people and being uncurious just because your team lost. You aren’t going to beat Republicans by acting like Republicans.
Lack of education and basic critical thinking skills?
that makes it possible, yeah.
Racism and hate?
Lead in their water supply?
A billionaire spending a quarter of a billion dollars to ensure people vote for trump?
This is the perfect time of year to be scared into doing the right thing.
Every time of the year is the perfect time.
Pure shit without the “Muppets” on board!
Micheal Cane was great in a Muppet Christmas Carol because he treated the Muppets like fellow actors.
Tim Curry was great in Muppet Treasure Island because he acted like a fellow Muppet.
I haven’t really seen people with Muppet acting like they’re anything other than actual living beings. everyone seems to fully embrace it regardless of their acting chops. they make eye contact, listen and converse with them respectfully, even though they probably see the puppeteers very clearly.
It’s a gift of respect.
What about Bill Murray?
Not bad. Not best.
How dare you! That’s my pretend girlfriend Carol Kane you are dissing!
Ms.Piggy would rock your world 😊
I think her back handed karate chop would rock anyone’s world.
Rather like how I cannot relate to robin hood unless he’s an anthropomorphic fox
Patrick Stewart
Scrooge
Spits out eggnog
Downloading! I had no idea!
Dude, Patrick Stewart is like a trained Shakespearean actor. It would be shocking if he hadn’t played Scrooge.
I knew he did on stage. I didn’t know there was any movie or film. It was great.
The rich who are left have already seen plenty of violence. It simply does not bother them
If it takes that much effort to get them to share it simply becomes far more energy-efficient to off the whole lot of them.
cue Spongebob meme
- Fall of the Roman Republic
- French Revolution
- Russian Revolution
The first and second of those resulted in an emperor and the third, leaders for life that might as well have been called emperor. Not much of an improvement in the end. Still the wealthy in control of everyone else.
