I didn’t like that finale.

The characters felt lifeless, like they were all doing a loose parody of themselves. Even the “oh lord” felt like a reference. The one scene which felt genuine was when Bender shot the can opener and took a nap.

At least we have the older seasons to constantly rewatch.

The first set was Nancy Drew + Hardy Boys (+ Tom Swift for the professor? I’m not familiar with that one). The other thread has a comment that there was a popular series in Germany by a different name for those stories “The Three Investigators”

The line is quippy, but it’s silly when you look at the batman stories. Anything can be funny if you get reductionist with it

When the writers have her saving plants, they do it in a way that you root for her. Same with Mr. Freeze, those episodes and the movie is really touching, solely because of his motivation.

You don’t root for batman to beat them up or flex his wealth on them, you want Batman to help them. You want them both to get happy endings.

The stories usually end with batman stopping the carnage, while also arresting whatever CEO was cutting down trees or doing experiments on Nora. In other stories, he funds social programs and advocates for reforms as Bruce Wayne.

Maybe there are other stories where he acts like a frat boy. I skip content that has shitty writing

Yea they are nice to check out. I don’t always see things that I am interested in, but it’s great that the group exists. It stops a lot of stuff from going to waste

Fair enough! I’m enjoying learning about the hardware stuff, so I was excited to watch HCS. I guess it’s a hard course, which is where the mild worry came from 😄 I’ll get started on watching it!

I loved Silicon Valley, and I might give it a rewatch sometime to catch all the jokes I didn’t quite understand

Sometimes I have the opposite problem, where the audience is more disruptive than anything. I haven’t been in a while, but I’m thinking back to the random cheering and clapping that pulls you out of the movie.

I also find that a lot of theatres are too loud now, but maybe my ears are getting old

I’m not sure why I was expecting something different, with Jason Statham making that face in the thumbnail

The cast alone makes me want to watch this one
