32·1 month agoRight now we have no other solutions/fixes. You may be able to get Invidious working on residential IP addresses (like at home) but on datacenter IP addresses Invidious won’t work anymore.
This might explain why mine has been reliable even though it hasn’t been updated in months. I guess add me to the list of confirmations that it works on residential connections.
9·2 months agoI plan my days backwards. If my appointment is at 13:00 tomorrow I check the travel timetables and determine the absolute latest I have to leave. From there, how long does it take to get ready? What time do I have to be awake in order to get ready? What time do I have to be asleep by in order to get a full night of rest? The anxiety and restlessness makes sure I stay on top of it.
…and a lot of weed to make sure I actually do fall asleep on time as one or two puffs too many puts me in the right spot to fall asleep quickly.

My review:
There was so much fan service that I thought it was a bad Tumblr fanfic and wish I had pirated it.
Fan service spoilers, general complaints, not in order
- Andy the android. Seriously? How lazy.
- Rook? Ash? Rook in Dutch is “smoke”, give me a break! Also that CG face was abysmal! I’ve seen better deepfake videos.
- How the hell does the Company find Nostromo in the middle of space after it blew up in all directions at an unknown location? Stuff keeps moving outward in space and space is infinite… To even figure out where it would be their physicists would have had to pinpoint the original site of the explosion, where the explosion took place on the ship, how much outward force the explosion exerted on the ship, and the exact date and time of the explosion. In the middle of fucking space.
- The mouse/rat giving “birth” was a terrible callback to 3 with the dog or cow, depending on the cut.
- Trying to blow the Xeno out of a hole in glass… C’mon!
- Humanoid birth (Alien 4) that looks like an Engineer (Prometheus), coming out of a human…
- Xeno breathing down Rain’s neck
- Andy sounding like David when inserting the module
- Andy and Rook continuing the terrible trope that every single android has referred to it as “the perfect organism”
- Face huggers swimming, a bad callback to 4
- Do NOT get me started on how convenient it was that the ship flew into the cargo bay when the pilot lost control
- The cryosleep fluid makes no sense and retcons 2. If Ripley was out for as long as she was between 1 and 2, then how many canisters were on her EEV?!?! What about between 2 and 3?!
- Rain stepping out of the lift with the gun was a shot for shot remake of 2
- Andy crying when being left behind, a callback to David, unless hes one of the original David models with a new skin? Lazy writing either way
- Stay away from her… BITCH 🤮
- The acid kill retcons 4. One drop goes completely through the guy’s leg, while in 4 it only burns the skin slightly.
- The scene where Rain blew away the Xenos when gravity was off was a callback to 2 with the turrets in the tunnel, down to having several rounds left after they’re all gone
- Rain entering the mission in the ship’s log at the end. Does she even have any formal training there?
- Since when are planetary rings solid? And since when does a vessel the size of a large city turn into shredded cheese when scraping against a bunch of space ice?
- Flashing runway lights, a direct callback to all of the other ones

There’s more but these are enough to get the point across. I think it would have been a better film if it tried to be its own film and not reference every single iconic scene from the previous installations. At least they kept the technology and set painting consistent this time, unlike Prometheus…
Piggybacking onto this, MenuLibre also works and the “hide from menus” setting does exactly that if a GUI is preferable. I used it to hide a bunch of VSTs a while back.
Forking is indeed the way forward when Mozilla loses its way a little more. For myself, I switched to Librewolf about 6 months ago, along with replacing Thunderbird with Betterbird after using it since the Phoenix days.
I cannot remember what prompted the move to Librewolf, it may have been the AI stuff they were pushing at the time, or possibly the update that forced the tabs into my titlebar without having to go into about:config to fix it. Or the fact that Firefox was constantly pushing me to sign up for an account. There were quite a few gripes that added up over time lol
Betterbird restored some removed things I liked pre-supernova as well as a native systray icon under Linux and that was enough motivation to make the switch.
It is time for a new browser to enter the market. Either Ladybird or something built with Servo seems likely.

33·3 months agoHave you looked at Duplicati? I use it and find it dead simple and reliable (I did a full recovery from a total data loss last year).
3·3 months agoIn the meantime, its possible to use qjackctl to create a connection from input to the VST before it goes to the easyeffects sink. Its a bit kludgy but it should work well enough.
Ooh damn. Mandrake was my first distro, I remember being sooo excited when the CDs came in the mail. It was I think 4 discs?
The experience was absolutely not good lol. At the time I only had one computer (some eMachines something or other) and a 56k line that only went to 14400 or 2600 baud depending on the weather. My NIC wasn’t supported and after some banging my head on the desk I ended up going back to windows 98se after a few days because it was the family computer I messed up and caught sooo much flak for wiping.
Returned some years later when it was called Mandriva and had a better experience with a custom built AMD machine. The eMachines machine by then was still around as a network file server running a flavour of BSD that served media to my OG xbox played through XBMC (now Kodi).

If the gaming world listened to the likes of Lemmy and reddit users, micro/macrotransactions, early-access hell, and half-finished releases wouldn’t have become common practice. But here we are.Fallout is now associated with 76 unless you’re thinking of Obsidian.
You may be right. Fallout 76 has however seen a record number of players since the show aired. That’s commonplace with most gaming franchises when a film or TV series comes out. See also: The Last of Us, and SWTOR when The Mandalorian came out.
(I personally think of Neverwinter Nights 2 when thinking of Obsidian. t’was peak gaming)
Blizzard is a shell of its old self, cutting interest in Warcraft, Starcraft, and Overwatch.
I agree with you here. In reality, Blizzard still consistently has queue issues when releasing a new WoW expansion or game, even after all this time. They know it happens, and won’t scale up for launch day on WoW retail AND Classic. Their target audience eats that shit up and I’m saying this as a former player that quit during Battle for Azeroth. No comment on Starcraft as I quit when the OG Starcraft scene died down on aus-1 back in the day. Overwatch 1 was seeing incredible numbers when I played from launch until Moria was released. OW2 being a pay-to-win shit show ate into their numbers until they gave up the pay-to-win bullshit. I see more and more of my friends and streamers playing it again now that Bobby Kotick is gone. I’m quite disappointed in some of them, but it is what it is.
There’s rumors even Call of Duty is struggling to retain relevance in new releases.
Good thing they’re just rumours until the earnings report comes. Sony has poorly-redacted court documents stating that CoD is their bread and butter on the playstation. There’s no way that’s changing in the forseeable future (at least not in the billions of dollars range), even with the absolute shit-show that was MW3. When MW4 comes out, the diehard fans will forget it even happened, as they have with every single release since its inception.
Money. They are buying up IP instead of making it on their own merit.
2·6 months agoI’m interested in your use of the Arc card for media transcoding. What one did you get and how would you say it compares to a GTX 960? The one in my server died and I stuck a spare 2060 in there a while back and am looking to downgrade to something sensible.
Most of my media is 1080p x264 with some 4k HEVC (and growing) if that helps.
Not a pharmacist or giving advice.
My psychiatrist started me off at 20mg of the slow release in January of this year and upped it to 30 a month ago (also slow release).
Is there a reason you are prescribed the 30 and not the 20? To me that makes more sense than expecting you to split a 30mg capsule four ways… Also if you have to spread it out throughout the day you might be better off with a rapid release tablet which can be cut more evenly with a pill cutter.
I found that taking mine as soon as I wake up gives the most beneift as it takes an hour and half before it starts working. Taking it after 09:00 makes me unable to sleep.
