  • It is incredibly odd…isn’t it? So many words saying very little.

To OP, I think it would help others to give you advice if you say exactly what sort of plans you had that didn’t work out. Plans not working out come in all shapes and sizes, and advice for one thing doesn’t necessarily apply to another.

If it’s a relationship you seem to desire, then asking for more relationship focused advice may be more fruitful than vaguebooking and not getting much in the way of useful responses.

I used an android app called “Just Run”. It’s a free couch to 5K app with no ads. Downside is it’s very simple and it only trains you on the length of your runs, not your distance. So I paired it with a cheap smartwatch to figure out how far I was going. I didn’t make it to 5k at the end of the app (altho I was able to run for 30 mins straight like the app trains you), but I continued to run afterwards now only using my smartwatch.

Initially I was going to run more frequently, but through the advice on the app, I found that it’s best to have at least one rest day in between runs. So I run every one to two days ideally unless I have something going on. It feels less pressuring and draining to do that way too.

Initially, my feet and knees (and even a bit of my chest from using my breathing muscles more lol) hurt a lot, but I just went slow and kept at it and eventually my body got used to running and now everything is fine. I do have mild chronic pain in my left foot, but I think it’s unrelated because it started happening before I picked up running.

Maybe a bit tmi, but I always be sure to take a dump in the morning before I go out for a run lol!!

Good luck! Remember, you don’t have to be Usain Bolt!

How is it causing trouble to say “excuse me, I had a latte with my order. Thanks!!”??? I’m polite about it and I wait ample time to make sure they truly forgot and aren’t just behind. Hell, usually I’m actually approached by one of the employees when I’m just standing there waiting for a prolonged period of time, not the other way around.

But I only order 2 things. When I’m missing one of the only two items I paid for, I have a tendency to speak up. It doesn’t make me an asshole. Believe it or not, there are polite ways you can indicate that you are missing half your order.

I actually don’t correct them if they give me 2 incorrect items, so long as they are in the same category of what I wanted (a food and a drink item)…happens frequently. It’s when I’m missing a category of item that I ask for it.

Yeah, I always ask for a receipt at counter service/fast food eateries. Half the time, even though I only order like 2 items (3 at the very maximum if I’m feeling chippy), the order is inevitably missing something or incorrect so I like to have it as proof when I tell them I’m missing my drink order or something.

I don’t know how people fly by the seat of their pants and just let places like Taco Bell or Dunkin Donuts just give them random items without proof of what you ordered lol. Maybe I’m just unlucky!

Or yeah, if I think I might have to return an item, I don’t want a receipt.

Otherwise, 90% of the time, I don’t want one.

  • This is hardly related to anything at all, but be careful about using your university email as a login for too many things. At least at my university, we only have access to the email for the duration we were in school (and a bit of a grace period afterwards). So afterwards it can be a real pain to switch over a bunch of accounts. And if you forget to switch them over in time you can lose access to them.

Nah, I hate them too. The only form of exercise I actually seem to enjoy is dancing actually. But unfortunately as an adult, I have a harder time with it. I found a dance studio last year that catered to adult students. But the drive after work was just so far (30+ minutes) and I was so wiped from work that I just found it not a great experience (despite enjoying the workout itself) so I stopped. If there was a dance studio down the street from me that did adult classes, I’d be on board.

I continue running because it’s so easy to fit it in before work and easier to measure my metrics as opposed to some of these other forms of exercise. The park is a 5 min drive from me.

It’s like…yeah I could bike before work instead, but I don’t have a way to transport my bike to the local park, so it wouldn’t be as efficient of a bike ride waiting to cross busy intersections…not to mention significantly more dangerous with how fast the traffic goes (it’s a 45mph road, but cars like to go above 60mph and somehow don’t get pulled over by the police…).

I was biking a bit last year, but running just works out better for my particular scenario.

I do have access to a swimming pool, but I don’t have the technique and just find it so monitonous. At least with running in the park, I get to look at the trees and birds and other runners.

Imagine telling someone you hate doing something and they just tell you you need to work harder at it or do more of it. It’s a bit offensive, don’t you think?

Yes, I already said I don’t run that far or fast. No need to rub it in or brag at how much farther you can run. I do run a 5k each time, but “a bit over 3 miles” sounded less pretentious to say than “3.11 miles”. It takes me 32-36 minutes depending on the day, route, weather, etc. It’s slow.

I have no interest in running much farther of a distance. My time in the mornings before work is limited and I live in a very hot climate where I only get a very brief period after the sun rises before the heat is unbearable for running. In my area, people do run in the full sun when it’s 99F, but I personally cannot do that. If I accidentally start a run too late in the morning, I end up regretting it because of the heat. No, I don’t have any interest in running in the dark or running on a treadmill at a gym. Might eventually make my way up to 8k when it gets cooler out, but we’ll see. Def not going to be running farther than that.

Yeah I hate almost any and all forms of exercise. I picked up running back in March because people say exercise improves your mental health.

No it fucking doesn’t. I’m still doing it every few days and it does not at all improve my mental health. Also running fucking sucks. People who enjoy it are psychopaths.

Figured I’d keep at it for now though. I don’t run super far or fast. I run a bit over 3 miles every few days. It still sucks every time.

  • Really? I hear people say stuff like this all the time, but I have not experienced it at all. Every time I go to a brick and mortar store, I find that the price is still way cheaper when I look up the product on Amazon. Plus many other online stores still have ridiculously long shipping times whereas with Amazon it will sometimes even arrive in less than 24 hours.

I also have always had great experiences with Amazon support for faulty items or in the ease of returning my items.

I bought an item from a different online retailer recently. Took forever, they sent me the wrong item, and they refused to refund my money until it took snail mail to ship it back to them and for it to be restocked in their warehouse (not even an expensive item…$40). I was absolutely pissed about how difficult they made the situation over their own mistake when Amazon has always made it so easy for me.

Another company I purchased from recently required a signature for an item and customer service flat out refused to allow me to hold it for pickup like I normally do for items like that (I didn’t realize signed delivery at home address only was a thing…never had a product like that before). They made it a headache and a half to actually get my item because I work during the day and wouldn’t allow me to have it held to be signed for at a delivery center. If I order something like that from Amazon, they allow delivery to a secure locker so I don’t have to be home during the day to pick up my purchase like I’m some 1950s housewife.

There are other retailers still that are cheaper than Amazon, but you end up waiting a month or more for your items.

I get that Amazon is a morally shitty company, but I just have not found another company with anywhere remotely near the price point, shipping experience, and customer service as them. If someone is able to step up to the plate and do that, I’ll certainly switch to someone more moral.

I will say that I do not use Amazon for used products because you have absolutely zero idea of the condition for them. eBay has always been a far superior experience for that specific type of item because you can actually see what you’re buying.

  • Yes. The Flip 5 has a different cover screen than the 3. It’s significantly larger. Just look up a a photo comparison of how significantly different they are. Yes, you can run literally any app or APK file from the cover screen on the Flip 5. The ones I use most are Discord, Spotify, YouTube, Google Messages, Voyager, my notes app, and Red Reader (Reddit).

Sometimes they can be a bit buggy or don’t function very well (esp games), so I don’t like using certain apps on the cover screen.

The only caveat is you need to install a free app by Samsung called Good Lock from the Galaxy Store first. Evidently it is not available in certain regions. In these regions, then yes, the cover screen functionality is locked down to only a few approved apps.
