I’m not sure there’s going to be enough gameplay for me to play the whole thing, but it’s included with PS+ (extra?) and it’s definitely a nice looking package. I really like the color palette and just the way they’re approaching the visuals early.

And if they want to make a lot of babies?
The issue seems to be how the money is designated, not the amount of money. Even if you have a million bucks budgeted for typewriters for one facility, it’s not automatically fungible.
I’m not saying there are no enthusiast spaces. I’m just explaining some of the tradeoffs that come with too low of a barrier entry when forming a community.
You want to be welcoming and accessible, not intimidating, etc, and I’m not saying any of that is bad. But you lose some of the magic where the whole community is relatively enthusiastic and has a shared vision for what it is when it’s easy for anyone to join and pull their own way.
Invalidate and permanently remove the capability to patent software.
It’s exclusively idiotic bullshit like this.
The point isn’t “it’s their fault”. But it changes the dynamic.
An enthusiast community can, for good and bad, largely self regulate. It’s easier to keep corporate interests either out, or engaging on your terms.
Once the community grows to include a high enough proportion of casual participants, that ability goes away, because manipulations that don’t work on inquisitive expert audiences do work on less informed ones, and less willing to question. It’s harder to establish who actually knows what they’re talking about by reputation, it’s harder to weed out the trolls from the naive, and it’s just generally harder to keep the focus of the community where you want it to be.
Corporations are one of the groups of bad actors manipulating that difference in dynamics, but the dynamics are different because of the large influx of people who don’t understand as much and aren’t trying to.
Your game doesn’t sell at all because Steam adds massive value. Steam is the reason PC gaming is what it is.
Retail gets paid for a reason. Distribution has huge value. There isn’t a game out there that doesn’t make way more money paying Steam a 30% commission than they would by not taking advantage of their massive reach.
Steam taking 80% would be a much better offer for developers than Epic taking -50%. You’d still make more on Steam.
At most I could see it being a kind of novelty for stuff like movie theaters to add to the immersion. And the obvious ads bullshit.
DLSS and FSR are not comparable.
“FSR looks like shit” is not the same thing as “upscaling looks like shit”.
Yeah, there’s a reason any movie attempting 3D CG with any budget at all has used path tracing for years. It’s objectively massively higher quality.
You don’t need upscaling or denoising (the “AI” they’re talking about) to do raster stuff, but realistic lighting does a hugely better job, regardless of the art style you’re talking about. It’s not just photorealism, either. Look at all Disney’s animated stuff. Stuff like Moana and Elemental aren’t photorealistic and aren’t trying to be, but they’re still massively enhanced visually by improving the realism of the behavior of light, because that’s what our eyes understand. It takes a lot of math to handle all those volumetric shots through water and glass in a way that looks good.
No, I’m not. People don’t turn down free stuff with no strings attached. It doesn’t happen.
Because it’s free. I guarantee you 90% of people will take free shit if offered free shit.
Including it for free completely undermines the whole reason for removing the cable.
Then everyone will claim one and you’ll increase waste.
The whole reason they’re removing the cable is because of pressure from governments not to waste materials including it.
I have massively better quality, stability, and latency with the RemotePlay app over the internet from PS5 than I do with Steam in home streaming actually in my house. It’s still not good enough for high precision games, but Steam isn’t close.
PS4 can’t stream for shit because it can’t do the encoding.
“To clarify: I had no involvement in the actual development of this official port, and neither did Flat2VR Studios,” the modder added. “They just bought all the rights to the concept and code of the unfinished mod (which tbh they didn’t really need to do), and then did it all themselves.”
I’m curious how much of his code they ended up using, but it’s really cool to reward the dude like that either way.
The regular game made me motion sick lol.
No, the OP did.
Edited for clarity.
Because there’s very little overlap between people who need them and people who know that it’s an option.
The people claiming them would primarily be people like me who do know how it works, know that I probably won’t use it, but am going to take it anyways, because it’s free and because it is within the realm of possibility that I need another cable as a temporary replacement until I get another one.
It would be a handheld console that would play their console library. They’d beat the Steam Deck’s sales volume as fast as they could manufacture them. Also, the Steam deck doesn’t do the triggers, which is a meaningful loss in plenty of PS5 games.
My actual point, though, was that the build quality for the price is really good.
Teach them how to evaluate sources on the internet.
Seriously, all the hardware/OS whatever is cool, but if you want to really make a difference that will affect everyone, teach them how to find information, how to evaluate it, and how to use internet reference material.
