I think that’s dumb and they all very obviously look like they’re in their 20s 🤷♀️.
I’m curious to know what arch-based distro you’re talking about?
Can’t speak for the person you’re responding to, but honestly no, not really? Like, of course it’s a big deal that this stuff happens, but it’s so common that every individual story just seems obvious. It should def be recorded when we find those instances if not just for proof, but I personally just don’t care about seeing it my news. Especially when it seems pretty off topic for the technology sub.
I don’t think I’d necessarily agree with that, but just to note, op is recommending the BSDs, not Linux.

I think that’s ridiculous. I vastly prefer FOSS and so I won’t use this, but clearly professional software being ported to Linux is a big deal for Linux and its userbase.
Should we ban discussion about any distro that’s not certified by the FSF? Should we ban news about proprietary Nvidia drivers?

I’m a nihilist and I don’t think that’s true whatsoever. At least to be a moral nihilist, it just means I don’t believe in any metaethical framework (no “oughts”)
Regardless of whether or not I think killing me would have or create some objectively bad property, I have an egotistical attachment to living, and of course I’m going to try to avoid it.
My ethics and my desires are related but different.
I can’t make any predictions, but I might see a few problems with moving to debian. Flatpaks are a pretty good replacement for lots of apps, but especially with stuff like drivers for Nvidia cards (and supporting Nvidia so well is something Pop!_OS seems to like), you just can’t get all the way with the debian repos.
I think if they were to move, imo it would be more realistic to use something like Fedora as a base.

This seems like a very reasonable and pretty tame warning?
That’s a lie that the US government has desperately been trying to push for decades. The creation and detonation of nukes was an entirely avoidale atrocity.
But in this analogy, instead of disabling the ink/internet, they disabled your entire printer/computer. They didn’t withold further service, they actively made something this person already owns useless through a malicious backdoor.
