“During WW1” is the context for this
The article says that the Ministry has suggested students use other programs, so it sounds like it’s just something students often use rather than something that’s actually required. I’ve not been in school for a long time, but I am doing a distance learning course and when I had to submit some written stuff I definitely found it more comfortable to type it up in an actual word processor than the web platform that only showed about a paragraph at a time, so I did that and then copied it to the web platform.
Well you see, the UN’s logo is actually a top-down view of Earth. Apparently. Because they can’t keep a conspiracy secret without leaving some clues in the open for kicks.
I think you’ve misunderstood the comment above. They’re asking why snapshotting DRM-protected content would be a problem if everything stays local, implying that since it’s a problem it does not stay local
I’m going to assume that the ladysitter is the most responsible friend on a hen night
I don’t feel comfortable putting that much important stuff in one thing. If I lose my phone or my wallet, the other can do a lot to help cover for it until I get a replacement
Edit: alternative image host, I had no idea that imgbb was blocked in a bunch of places https://i.imgur.com/OQ2l5CH.jpeg
Here’s Alaric. He made me panic when I first adopted him because it seemed like he was refusing to eat for several days. I then discovered that he had found the bag of cheese treats, hidden it behind the sofa, torn it open, and eaten nothing but those the whole time. He also dislikes hearing voice calls for some reason, perfectly happy to sit on my lap while I watch a video but will get up and leave if I go on a discord chat or take a phone call. Those big ears of his can apparently tell the difference, even when I’m using headphones.
I love this little guy. He is a blessing.
But it’s tactical!
I’m still using it. I’ve got nice headphones and speakers that run off of a cable and no interest in top-end phones, so it makes sense to get a phone that fits the more expensive audio stuff rather than a bunch of adapters. Nokia’s cheaper smartphones have served me quite nicely
Doesn’t Bilbo make actual coffee for the dwarves at the start of the Hobbit?
I finished Tunic yesterday! I had a great time with it. Extremely vague and minor spoilers after this, I can’t get the spoiler tags to work so I’ve just taken out the detail. ::: The golden path puzzle in page 9 nearly beat me, but man what a cool discovery it was to figure it out. :::
Vet bills can get nasty in Europe too. They’re not covered by universal healthcare policies, unsurprisingly. But also, like… don’t be a dickhead about someone’s pet getting hurt? They already know it’s costing them a lot of money
Then I sure as fuck don’t want to risk a confrontation with a murderer over a supermarket sandwich
The hybrit process that some Swedish steelmakers (including SSAB - not a typo, it isn’t Saab) are using looks promising. They’ve been testing it with Volvo and are apparently making it part of Volvo’s regular process in 2026
CE/BCE isn’t strictly astronomical year terminology, it can be applied to the Gregorian calendar and AD/BC can be used for astronomical years. If you see BCE outside of an astronomy context, it probably does not include a year zero
how high processing power computers with AI/LLM’s can assist in a lab and/or hospital environment
This is an enormously broader scope than the situation I actually responded to, which was LLMs making diagnoses and then getting their work checked by a doctor
In the example you provided, you’re doing it by hand afterwards anyway. How is a doctor going to vet the work of the AI without examining the case in as much detail as they would have without the AI?
In the test here, it literally only handled text. Doctors can do that. And if you need a doctor to check its work in every case, it has saved zero hours of work for doctors.
This is an apt comparison, especially since Buckfast is also caffeinated
