Would it be a good practice to install minimal Debian and learn to use Nix package manager with it?

If possible, buy an old Thinkpad for 50-100 bucks and install on a real hardware for the best experience.

I have no experience with any Mac hardware, but Virtualbox has improved a lot during the years. It won’t have accelerated graphics, but still fast and responsive.

I have 4 icons displaying the current amount of volume with white background and for mute I use red background. It was super easy to set in the config file even I don’t speak C++.

For icon I have configured the swaybar. I don’t use notifications, thus they’re simple to set for bindsym (above) if needed.

Well, for Pipewire it’s the apps which needs to adjust at this point. Only thing missing currently is the Wayland but it’s coming. Making Linux less fragmented (read: confusing), the more new users will give a try.

At this point, my biggest dream is that these ‘new user’ distros used only Wayland, Pipewire, Systemd and Flatpaks simply to simplify things. Hopefully we’re less than 2024 away from NoVideo Wayland support.

Also as soon as XFCE releases their Wayland support, that soon it’ll become the most famous DE choice of Mint.

What I am really happy is to see how well supported Pipewire already is. Pipewire has never showed any problem in the new installs for me.

Does it have option to add or remove certain percentage with one command?

Since it supports multiple monitors, is there finally desktop monitors with brightness support??! Pretty perfect to use function keys (XF86KeySum on laptops) and just a modifier/shift for second monitor. Awesome!

They probaly release it at the same time with their Virgo laptop, which is going to be fully repairable and open source as much as possible (including bios). It’ll also contain a trackpoint and a hot-swappable mechanical keyboard.
