Everyone I know in tech uses android. People that want capable handheld devices choose android. People that want a basic device that does what the company says and nothing else go Apple. Even I suggest Apple to old people and luddites, it protects itself from them. Oh, and people easily manipulated by social pressures (OMG I need the right colored text bubble!) will deeply overpay for a subpar device.

I am so guilty of this!

Granted, if it is a new activity or hobby where rookies don’t destroy gear, it makes sense to me. It lets me skip the constant upgrading as my skills increase.

I’ll buy a zillion dollar airbrush and learn to use it, and feel incentivised to take care of it. I didn’t do the same with my first Jeep when I got into offloading. My first one was a cheap junker that I could roll if I did a rookie move.

As for a slur for people like me…I dunno, whatever makes you feel superior I guess. If it is creative or funny enough, I’ll happily adopt it and use it 👍

  • Unchecked mods, baby! Dipshit mods running everyone off.

It is annoying that it is popular. It is the only place you can post up a picture of some piece of plastic you found and 4 people will comment 39sec later telling you that it is from the inside of a distributor cap of a 98 Ford focus, one guy saying it is from a venusian mother ship, another guy will offer to buy it for $3, and another will DM you asking for another picture of it but held between your toes for $20…so in less than a minute I am a little more knowledgeable and $23 richer.

I hate that it remains useful and that I still use it.
