Would also recommend whoogle. They have done public ones iirc but also hand a self hosted option (that I use behind a VPN) for those that line self hosted shit

Ah I see, I was half asleep and didn’t realize it was all the servers lol
I thought they already did this last year tbh
Then a Google voice number is fine for that. Just create a junk Gmail and had that number out.
I’ve recently been looking into mysudo. For $1 a month you can get 1 number as well as some extra stuff if you care about that.
You can use it without Google services if running GrapheneOS but it takes a second normal phone and a throwaway Google account to work. Incoming notifications don’t work but if used as a spam number that’s probably a good thing lol. Haven’t pulled the trigger on it but seems like something I will probably set up at some point
SMS is unencrypted, insecure, and not private to begin with. Your SIM provider can see everything you send plus track you via cell towers.
As someone who is currently de-googling my own stuff I understand but wanting google services but please don’t think it being Google is why it’s not Privacy focused.
Or you could learn about local only control for smart devices instead of being insane lol
They do, that’s how I control mine. They haven’t been connected to a hurricane bridge in over a year at this point
I heard about Lemmy with the Reddit debacle but didn’t think much of it. Then I got a Pixel 7 Pro to run GrapheneOS on and while searching droidify I found Voyager and thought I should check out Lemmy.
Its taken some effort figuring out how this shit works but I think I’ll stick around for a bit
