It’s a rather niche role which is why I kept things vague since I wouldn’t be hard to dox if I got into specifics, but yeah they do still exist. Hope your search goes well! And thanks!!
I do appreciate it. I’ll call my role technical consulting too to keep things rather vague. My boss, and his boss, and his boss are VERY in-tune to the work/life balance. And the company as a whole has zero plans to get people into offices as they were very remote-first well before the pandemic. Hell my team is spread out across the US so it’s not like I would be able to see any of them in-person anyway. When I took this position in May I had to make a list of where everyone was located to keep track of timezones, lol.
Bold of you to assume he had a soul.
Gotcha, yeah I don’t have a ton of data which is why I said I was likely in the minority. I do appreciate the insights though as my current position is only guaranteed through 2026 because of our project. Hopefully we get more projects and it continues but it’s good to know that the industry is (unsurprisingly) screwing over more and more salaried employees.
I’m probably well in the minority here but I’m curious how true that statement is across the board. Or maybe I just work for a great team, lol. I rarely put in more than about 30-35 a week with exceptions of crunch-time deadlines. I do pull some odd hours because we have a team in India but can just take comp time later in the day or week to offset that. I’m paid (by most standards I know) quite well too.
That said, this is great for the folks that will benefit! I really hope this helps push for a larger reform. Far too many people are getting screwed over by shit jobs, shit hours, shit pay, shit benefits, etc…
I was in Deadwood SD this summer, I’ll have to check out the series. Thanks for the suggestion!
Usually around 74F in the summer but I’ll bump it if the temps outside hit the mid 90s. 64 in the winter, I like it cold. I run a portable AC in the master bedroom during the summer while we sleep. Bit of a story there.
is calling for investigations into the group’s top leader and its financial practices
Ahh, so always grifting, makes sense.
Not yet, his plane landed in Atlanta about 10 minutes ago. Live updates here if you are so inclined: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2023/aug/24/trump-georgia-fulton-rally-republican-debate-politics-live-updates
I’ve got the 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 - who’s bringing popcorn?
Since when have GQP voters cared if the person they vote for actually does anything?! I thought they just wanted someone to “own the libs” and bitch about “woke” things (while being unable to define that that actually is).
I’m kinda surprised this wasn’t the original announcement. I figured it would just move to a paid feature. Maybe the initial tweet (or whatever the fuck we call an X) was just to get attention.
Or a roll of toilet paper… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRJjBYp76QY
TIL I’m in the top 10%. Yeah I can’t believe I pollute any more than the other 90%. I work 100% from home, only my wife commutes 3 days a week. House is a modest 2200 sq ft. I don’t have a boat or RV or plane or anything. I have some modest investment in hotels, cruise lines, and airlines (like under $5k all in). So yeah, this study leaves a lot to be desired.
EDIT: I guess my 401k or other managed investment accounts may have money in fossil fuels, but I’m not sure how I would know that or what exactly I would do about it. I have zero choice for the 401k as it’s through my company. Other accounts maybe but how would one even track down managed investment accounts that don’t include the largest pollution contributors?
I hate how “hack” is used for any kind of breach. This is 100% credential re-use or a shit password:
The attackers appear to be using leaked credentials or brute-forcing to attempt to take control of a large number of LinkedIn accounts.
And
For accounts that are appropriately protected by strong passwords and/or two-factor authentication, the multiple takeover attempts resulted in a temporary account lock imposed by the platform as a protection measure.
That’s not to say LinkedIn isn’t a steaming pile of garbage, but to say this is a “hack” is disingenuous.
I obviously don’t speak for everybody but my Biden vote in 2020 was very much a not-Trump vote. And if Trump end up against Biden in 2024 I will make that same vote a second time. Like you said, I’ll take a meh Biden over the crazies in the GQP.
I was going to say, coal remains around 1/3 of our electric generation worldwide (as of 2022): https://www.statista.com/statistics/269811/world-electricity-production-by-energy-source/
Coal can’t be reused, created, or otherwise obtained outside of mining. Until we remove our dependency on coal, mining will continue.
