This entire situation was born of, and feeds on, foreign-based and funded propaganda.

When Trump speaks, he is speaking for propagandistic distribution and to the consumers of propaganda. When the far right-wingers in Congress say and do whatever they need to do to either subvert the normal business of government or stop it altogether, this too is part of the propaganda machine.

The entire point of propaganda is to keep its consumers in an emotionally reactive mode so that they can be led. It has nothing to do with stupidity, and everything to do with well-studied human emotional reactions, especially those pertaining to fear and rage.

And every single one of those tricks are being used daily, legally, over our own airwaves and through our own media, to keep a substantial minority off-balance, full of anger and fear, and ready to lash out in ways that destabilize society as a whole, because destabilization welcomes a strongman.

Propaganda is at the root of EVERYTHING going on right now.

Until/unless we shut that shit down and allow its consumers to return to some kind of shared reality, this situation is going to continue to mount.

It’s not the scary foreigners. It’s “our” rich people who have bought out the system and molded it to their liking. Capitalism always turns into fascism as the system crumbles under its own weight unless something drastic occurs.
