Doom is the reason why my brothers and I set up a lan at our parents’ house. IPX over coax, and NE2000 network adapters.
I still play Doom 2 deathmatch against other Doom enthusiasts using source ports. It’s just perfect FPS in my opinion.

Also did this! Played it at a friend’s, fell in love, so 13 year old me got a job and worked til I could buy it. What a game.
