Goodbye Milwaukee, it was nice knowing you. Since you don’t have a housing crisis, they’re going to try and attract one so your population can grow (and of course the developer’s pockets). Say hello to many, many luxury apartments and overpriced box homes.
Right, they’re trying to create a “housing crisis” while letting it be a free for all, so it’s too late to stop it when it happens. Not all of what they’re doing is bad, but they don’t need it right now. They’re trying to attract developers because it will be easy for them to ravage the city right off the bat. Cities need to change organically, this is set up as a land grab and build what you want.
At the heart of this effort is a commitment to Mayor Cavalier Johnson’s vision of expanding the city’s population by 400,000 residents to reach one million, and the best way to do so is by making it easier to build.

I don’t get it. Isn’t a “housing crisis” where residents start to outnumber dwellings? The changes are supposed to make development easier.
