Obviously working off the same information as you, but it sounds more like he stopped him from leaving during the winter, and didn’t stop him after. Kitty made his choices and regrets them now.

Been there. Eventually we had to stop letting him leave though because he brought fleas in. Twice.

Actually it might’ve been three times

The cheap flee collars do not work, and if the cat was even semi-feral good luck getting any collar on it. Tropical is usually best, but stuff that works is also not cheap.

I often find going to the tropics solves most of my problems!

In all seriousness, I totally agree that topical is the way to go.

What does work are anti flea drops you put on their neck, where they can’t reach. Lasts a month or so and kills fleas and ticks. My mum’s cats are outside a lot and they never have fleas or ticks, when my mum doesn’t forget putting the frontline drops on.

Yeah that’s what they referred to as “tropical,” a misspelling of “topical.” But as they say, it isn’t cheap for the good stuff. Frontline doesn’t even work in my area, gotta be advantage II or revolution.

We have 2 of these. A nice, semi-open veranda that they can sleep on that’s not cold.

One actually has a home but apparently is terrified of it because he always comes back.

Feel guilty of stealing a cat.

Cats love having affairs. My mum’s cats most certainly get some food and attention from a neighbour sometimes.

But talking to the owners definitely can’t hurt.

I met my “timeshare” cat cuz the grump was stealing carrots and got stuck in the greenhouse. Fond memories there. Still don’t know what he did with them. I like to think he brought them to some other thoroughly confused human as tribute.

We have, they know, we bring him back, he just loves it here for some reason. Think he’s in love with one of ours.

Maybe you can just establish communication with his other family so they know he’s visiting you and not hit by a car. Sometimes a noisy bunch of kids can cause a cat to run away, even though they love him.

Did, they’re not thrilled but he’s just not willing to go back, they know he’s OK and we took him back a few times.

We don’t know why he hates it there so much and loves it here, he was happily staying in the barn over the cold winter, we let him in sometimes, he even let’s our daughter play with him and she’s a terror.

Can’t imagine what happened at his house to make him hate it so much.
