A small demo portion of the game is $35, which is absurd in and of itself. The full game is now over $100. In no world is that considered a “low cost”, especially not for the caliber of game being offered.

Also I’m not even going to bother responding to your sad false dichotomy.

No, the full base game is $35. You’re being intentionally dishonest by pretending it’s not.

Please share your idea of a game worth its cost.

No, the devs are being intentionally dishonest by pretending what was once the full game can still be considered as such. They have created so much more content for the game, you can no longer reasonably define the “base game” as the “full experience”. At this moment, if a person wanted to play rimworld in its entire and complete form, it would cost them over $100. There are no bundle deals, the game barely ever goes on sale, the devs are clearly trying to maximize profit, an action which would be met with judgement and criticism in any other circumstance, as it should.

Wow so because the devs have contiously added to the game over the past 6 years, that calling the base game the base game is no longer viable? That is the stupidest take I’ve heard in a while. Where do you think the funds come from to support a game with new content for over 6 years? The fucking expansions.

Please share with us your idea of a game worth it’s value? I’m dying to know what you think is worthy if not RimWorld of all fucking games.

Y’all seem like you’re having fun in the corner but that’s not a great comeback when Terraria is just sitting there.

Terraria is another example of the handful of games that actually provide free continuous content over their lifetime, same goes for Stardew Valley. Fact is that’s the extreme minority of games and when it comes to strategy games, Rimworld and DF are the only ones.

I’d put all these games on the same tiny arse pedestal of good value, and I’m happy paying $20 every few years to support a dev to keep doing what they do.

Attacking them over 99% of the rest of the industry is fucking stupid however.

The base game is fully playable without any of the expansions and has a solid amount of content.
