I understand the need for compression and re-encoding but I stand by the claim we should not use a container that will eat itself alive a little bit every time it’s edited.

It happens when the image is edited and re-encoded on save. Who taught you they didn’t?
Files should be at reasonable resolutions and sizes for their purpose but not in file formats that slowly deteriate in an internet of remixing ideas.
Lossy compression is antiquated. Jpg should no longer be used as it’s not 1999. I will die on this mole hill.
Every time there’s a recall, I remember the equation from Fight Club and how the company has to make a decision to recall or absorb the costs. Tesla has had A LOT of recalls mostly with the cyber truck. Musk doesn’t seem like the kind of person to be cautious and recall to be on the safe side.
So… What AREN’T they recalling?
“I’m ok in all the ways that you or anybody can realistically help with. I’m not ok in all the ways that everybody else also seems to also be not ok.”
Here’s a secret I wish someone told me in high school: literally everything is pass by value, it’s just that sometimes the value is an address. It demystified pointers for me.
It means the smaller the bug, the more annoyed I am because I COULD fix it. Balder’s Gate 3 still pads out my camp supplies on long rests with 42/40 while selecting multiple stacks of 0/X potatoes or apples or whatever. The size and quality of the game and how many updates there have been leaves me baffled at how such an easy bug is still happening. I know it’s the unsolved backpack problem but I still think I could do it better.
