It really is a scathing indictment of our country that, even if the allegations were true (they aren’t), the proposed solution to the problem Republicans have offered up is to deport all of the people back to their home country rather than just… I dunno. Making sure they have other means of feeding themselves.

What the fuck has become of our society?

  • Mine is Magic: The Gathering, except I fully realize that I am pulling away from it and why.

The game sparked an immense amount of joy when I picked it up in high school. Now I barely recognize the game anymore. It doesn’t truly have an identity of its own and exists in this permanent state of limbo where 3rd party IPs are taking over the demand for new product and the rules are becoming so bloated that they can’t fit them on cards anymore.

This is such an “old man yelling at clouds” moment for me, because I heard just about every reason under the sun for why people quit the game when I was playing from power creep to changing art styles to just getting priced out of the hobby in general. I realize now that those people were not wrong, they were just not the target audience anymore. I am no longer a profitable demographic to pander to. I never buy packs anymore, and I’ve even stopped buying singles and I don’t attend tournaments or collect anymore, so why would Hasbro/WotC make products for me? Especially when there are deep pocketed whales out there who will pay top dollar for their favorite crossover set, no matter how silly or out of place it might seem.

I wish I could enjoy the game the way I used to, but I just can’t be bothered to hop back in when it doesn’t feel the same anymore.

  • When I first signed up for reddit, the upvotes and downvotes were not only separately tallied, but also showed the usernames of the most recent people who did them if you hovered over the button. Then very shortly after that they changed it so that it made votes private by default, and you could override it in the settings, but almost nobody went to check that box back on. Eventually, they completely removed that feature around the time upvotes and downvotes were combined into one. which along with vote fuzzing was one of the worst changes to reddit comments, imo.

Lemmy feels like old reddit right now, which is a great spot to be in. I don’t think you necessarily need public vote info, but maybe it could be enabled on a per-community basis? I can see some communities like politics not wanting to add additional drama to the equation while other more content driven communities might enjoy knowing who was giving the feedback.

Off the top of my head - male, female and nonbinary meet the criteria of “at least three” and are probably the most well known. But I imagine a straightforward answer like that would not have satisfied some right wing mouthpiece and they would then intentionally try to conflate sex with gender to make Biden look bad when they take it out of context on the evening news (not that proper context would have mattered to the people watching it anyway).

  • This wouldn’t be a problem if we still had NASA doing the shuttle program, or some continuation of it, rather than outsourcing our spacecraft to the cutthroat lowest-bidder private sector. Is it really any surprise that SpaceX and Boeing are blowing up on the launchpads and having quality control issues when their sole objective is to make money? If we nationalized these initiatives again and cancelled the private contracts with these crooks, there would be no incentive for profiteering and corners would not get cut as often as they do now.

Sure, it would be a big cost to the taxpayer once again, but I think I’d rather have a reliable space program and like 2% less military budget to fund it, I think we’ll manage somehow without producing more tanks and planes that nobody is asking for.

  • Strength build enjoyers have plenty of options for strike damage with clubs, fist weapons, hammers, great hammers and some colossal weapons, but if you’re a Dex build (and shame on you) you might have found that there aren’t a ton of non-bladed weapons to pick from and you struggle with the Smithstone Miner basic enemies.

Fear not, the flail weapon class primarily scales with dexterity and makes for a great secondary swap weapon for when you’re trudging through the various tunnel dungeons looking for those sweet sweet smithing stones. You can find the basic flail super early in a chest in Limgrave near where you get the map segment and Night’s Cavalry enemies that use it also drop a somber version that has higher base damage and better dexterity scaling. That should make those dungeons significantly easier to manage as long as you peel the enemies one at a time and manage your stamina properly.

Int builds are also not completely out of options. The stone enemies are very weak to magic. Carian Slicer or any gravity sorcery should make short work of them.

I am aware of the situation, and its the same things that democrats would do in the same situation.

That which is asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence. No proof that democrats would do the same in that situation and we have 200 years of peaceful transfers of power to prove that.

You assume that I am a trump vote, but I am not.

Nobody simps this hard for Trump if they aren’t also planning on voting for him too. It’s okay, I already think you’re an idiot, I can’t possibly have a lower opinion of you right now. You might as well just say the quiet parts out loud. I’m certainly not trying to convince you to change your vote at this point. I already know whose “team” you are on anyway, since you seem to think this is just a game.

I just know that your team sucks more than his team and does worse things, like try to throw the most likely presidential candidate in prison.

The RNC had two whole years to pick another candidate. Two years knowing that Trump was under felony indictment and could very likely be imprisoned right around the election. This was not an accident - they are using the fact that Trump is being tried in court as a political weapon. The Republicans think you are stupid and will try to convince you that this is a plot by the democrats when in reality, Trump did this to himself by committing the crimes he did. If Trump doesn’t want to go to jail, maybe he should have thought about the consequences.

…by submitting a fake slate of electors. I feel like this is not that complex of a concept to grasp, but I’ll simplify it for your FOX News-addled mush brain:

Imagine a scenario in which 10 people eating at a restaurant all want to decide what to have for dessert. After some discussion, they’ve narrowed the choices down to Key Lime Pie or Cheesecake. The kitchen will only make one dessert for the table, so the table has to pick one or the other, they can’t have both. Naturally, the table takes a vote to see which dessert a majority of people will be satisfied with. 6 people vote for Key Lime Pie, and 4 people vote for Cheesecake. Key Lime Pie wins. So the table sends one of their group to go and take the order to the kitchen, making it official. But along the way, one of the Cheesecake guys decides that they don’t give a shit if most of the people at the table wanted something different and they intercept the guy delivering the order. They tell that person that a few people at the table changed their minds and now Cheesecake actually won so they should tell the chef to make that instead. Of course, the people at the table did not change their minds, this was a lie meant to trick the person delivering the order into doing what they wanted rather than what the majority demanded.

Given that scenario, don’t you think it’s unfair that the people who voted for Key Lime Pie would have been deprived of the dessert that they actually wanted and most people agreed on had the person who submitted the fake order actually succeeded?

Same thing here. Trump was the government, so there was nothing to overthrow. He overturned the election to remain in power past his mandate. Hence why I’m wondering why you’re talking about needing fighter jets to overthrow a government because that’s not what we’re talking about, nor is violent revolution always a prerequisite for a coup d’état.
