Malenia was born cursed as a vessel of the Scarlet Rot, a rotting plague that not even Golden Order Fundamentalism was unable to cure. Her brother, Miquella, sought a cure beyond the Order, while Malenia sought to serve her brother’s ambitions. She learned swordsmanship from a blue-robed master, likely the same figure who had sealed the outer god of rot to begin with. And, in the end, she became one of the greatest warriors in the Lands Between, and only met her match with Radahn, which triggered her to “bloom” reducing Caelid into a wasteland and creating the Swamp of Aeonia.
