Hello, I try out new distro every week since I have a lot of free time and want to learn more about Linux. I was thinking that it would be interesting to make a Lemmy post every week talking about my experience with the distro and what I did with it. right now I have alpine linux installed and thinking about using it till next sunday. feel free to suggest next distro that I should try out. (I have tried out a lot of distros but never wrote anything about the experience but now on I will be making post about it here on Lemmy :) )

      I don’t have a beefy machine to play game on, so installing Bazzite is useless for me.

    What’s the weirdest one you’ve tried? Most challenging? Have you found any really cool defining features in any distro?

    For example GoboLinux and NixOS eschew the Linux file hierarchy standard (FHS), and that becomes their defining feature. But many other distros have some other defining feature. Slackware uses tarballs as package management and oldschool init. LFS has you build from nothing. Etc.

    How long have you been hopping? Is this your 3rd week or your 30th?

    What are you looking for? Why are you hopping still?

    What are some pros of the distros you tried? What are some of the cons?

    Overall what’s your favorite distro so far and which is your least?

      1. I have been hoping for a long time around 2-3 months.
      2. I mostly hope to see what different distro has to offer plus I get to know a lot about Linux and how it works. ( I am a Software Engineer so I learn a lot about softwares too)
      3. ok this is a tough one, I like Arch because of AUR and the concept of AUR, there isn’t anything like it in other linux distro however it broke because I partially updated it by installing newer package on older deps this was my mistake that I didn’t update my Arch system for a long time, I also liked Gentoo which gave me a deeper understanding of how software are compiled and gets installed on a Linux system.
      4. My favorite distro would be Arch and the least favorite would be Ubuntu
